Background:
The Mabotech M520h turbocharger was first installed in my GTI about a year ago. At the time I was using the stock GTI low-pressure fuel pump with an aftermarket HPA high-pressure fuel pump and stock pressure sensors.
Working with those limitations, tuning was done with E30 fuel and produced a boost profile close to that of an IS38.
The resulting 403 WHP (estimated) was decidedly faster than I needed but in the interest of seeing what more the turbocharger was capable of I had plans to increase the fuel supply.
Before going down that path there was some information I wanted to collect on Mk7 GTI Stage 2 tunes, so I reinstalled the IS20 turbocharger and spent several months testing several tunes, followed by a test of several front mount intercoolers.
Recently I reinstalled the Mabotech turbocharger and brought the GTI over to Noster Motorsport in Orlando for the fueling system upgrades.
Parts Swap:
For this next phase, the GTI will receive multi-port fuel injection in the way of a Precision Raceworks fuel rail and Bosch fuel injectors.
The Precision Raceworks fuel line is also being added for delivering fuel from the LPFP.
The LPFP is being replaced by an RS3 pump kit from A2B Motorsport.
With the new components in place, the GTI is ready to continue testing with the Mabotech M520h turbocharger:
Garrett PowerMax GT2260S Turbocharger vs mabotech m520h turbo will he awesome !
I won’t be installing a Garrett. Based on the larger size of the M520h I expect it will make a good bit more power than the 2260 would,
