LM440 IS20 First Tune Revision

Background:

The LM440 turbo, which was recently installed, used one of the older M520 turbo tunes as its starting point, as discussed in the initial drive post.

The first revision tailored to this turbo was recently installed and logged.

Data Logs:

Outside temperature during logging was around 5 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than with the first tune, and there was also a change of intakes from an AMS filter to Eventuri.

With the AMS intake, I ran the inlet pipe and filter without the enclosure, as it is easier to install that way. The AMS was installed as part of the turbo installation, and I wanted to use an intake setup that would be easier to remove if needed.

This meant that it would draw in more air from the engine compartment, but that wasn’t a concern at the time. With this revision, I’ve installed the Eventuri intake, which is closed, and also allows me to place more datalogging equipment in the engine compartment.

The intake air temperature using the Eventuri is slightly lower, which is not unexpected given the outside temperature difference and the intake swap.

Boost pressure is about one psi greater through the middle.

The wastegate duty cycle is decreased slightly, most likely due to the cooler pre-turbo air temperature.

The acceleration rate has increased.
