Overview:
Progress on the MGM7 intake for use with the Shuenk IS48 turbocharger has been slowed down by the holidays. Still, some progress is being made, and I recently test-fit another update that is a good candidate for use in street logging.

Ensuring it fits within the engine compartment is the top priority, and this version succeeds.
For now, I am using the lower half of a Racingline R600 intake box to shield the air filter from the engine compartment air, but this choice entails a compromise, which is that the top half of the airbox will not fit on due to the size and shape of the Vibrant air filter.
The following image shows how the intake I am making attaches to the turbo inlet elbow, which is what connects the intake system to the Shuenk’s ported shroud compressor housing.
The overall design intent is shown in this image by the gradual taper from the air filter to the turbo inlet elbow outlet.

A flow test with this intake update showed it performs similarly to the most recent prior models.
My focus for now is on the elbow and making a part with material that can withstand the higher temperatures near the turbocharger.
