The last evaluation was with the APR Carbon Fiber intake attached directly to the flow bench.
The Setup:
For this evaluation the APR intake will be attached to the stock Turbocharger Inlet Pipe.
The stock Turbocharger Inlet Pipe previously was shown to cause a significant drop in airflow through the stock intake components.
This test will be to determine if a similar drop results with the APR intake.
The Results:
Below is the comparison of the airflow through just the APR Carbon Fiber intake and then the same intake with the addition of the OEM Turbocharger Inlet Pipe.
The addition of the stock Turbocharger Inlet Pipe produces a 32% decrease in airflow through the APR Carbon Fiber intake.
The next chart shows how the APR intake with TIP compares with two stock setups.
The APR intake allows slightly more airflow than the stock airbox without the internal grate and with the stock air filter replaced by an aFe Power air filter.
Conclusion:
Using the APR Carbon Fiber Intake does little to mitigate the drop in airflow through the intake caused by the stock Mk7 GTI Turbocharger Inlet Pipe.
