Background:
Racingline has begun offering a cotton air filter for the R600 intake system.
This cotton pleated air filter is an alternative option to the Trifoam air filter that the R600 intake came with when I obtained the R600 intake.
Test Procedure:
A flow test using a flow bench is being performed using the cotton air filter to assess how pressure drop compares to the MST cotton filter that was previously tested and also the Trifoam filter that has been in use with the intake.
The flow bench is operated at a test depression of 28″ of H2O and the airflow is recorded at this pressure drop.
The Racingline turbo inlet hose is attached to a generic inlet elbow and the system is attached to the flow bench using an adapter that simulates the inlet to the IS20/IS38 turbocharger compressor housing.
Test Results:
Flow testing the Racingline R600 intake using the Racingline cotton filter produced an airflow of 395 CFM @ 28″ of H2O. This is within the margin of error of the 393 CFM measurement recorded by the R600 intake using the MST filter.
The used Racingline Trifoam filter flowed 393 CFM.
Conclusion:
The Racingline R600 intake with cotton pleated air filter flows 395 CFM which is among the top flowing intake systems that have been tested.
