Background:
A few years ago, I discussed my GTI’s missing tow hook cover and my solution to design a cover that I could 3D print.
Someone recently requested the file so they could print out a cover for themselves, so I decided to update it to address a point of improvement.
The original I made lacks a small shift of the cylindrical part of the cover, which produces a small gap around one side of the cover, visible in the picture below, on the right side of the cover.
The update adds this design element to fill the hole in the bumper cover more uniformly, as shown below.
My version uses a small silicone hose to secure it in place. This piece has a 10 mm outside diameter, a 3 mm center hole, and a length of 10 mm.
