This update to the Stratified DSG tune for the Mk7 GTI DQ250 transmission continues the refinement of the 6th gear on-pedal downshift response.
The prior version also focused on changes to this behavior and with this update a different range of accelerator pedal position input is used to initiate the downshift. This current version works very well and the downshift from 6th to 5th should be fully dialed in with the next update, if the target values resulting from the test drives with this version eight can be achieved.
The 6th to 4th downshift is also being targeted for a minor adjustment that should complete this area of the update if the target response can be reached with the next update. Determining when downshifting should stop in 5th gear, or continue down to 4th gear, has taken a couple of revisions to establish acceptable boundaries, and now the refinement is focused on finding a good balance point.
I really like your approach to all this data logging/blogging. I’m an Engineering major, headed down the same tuning rabbit hole as you. My GTI is a ’16 S, ED Stage 2 ECU/TCU, CTS DP (stock exhaust), IE TIP + V2 Intake, EQT discharge pipe kit, Solowerks coilovers, RSB + links, APR SS DB insert. I like your idea of upgraded stock location intercooler + twintercooler, seems to be running good on your setup. I appreciate the development of the Strat TCU tune–might have to look into that, even though I feel the ED DSG tune is WORLDS better than the garbage Unitronic sells, it still leaves a little to be desired. Thanks for your write-ups, they’ve taken some guess work out of the aftermarket part vetting process. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the feedback.
Did you previously have the Unitronic DSG tune?
