Product
An Eventuri air scoop for the Mk7 GTI is installed in the grill of a GTI.
Note: The surround is DIY version, not the surround supplied with the Eventuri Scoop.
A block off plate has been made to cover the opening in the grill for evaluating intake performance without the scoop.
Setup:
An air temperature sensor probe is installed to measure the air temperature of intake air as it exits the stock GTI airbox.
The stock GTI intake will be used while recording before and after temperatures.
Air temperature will be recorded continuously during routine driving that varies from 25-45 mph for a duration of approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
Results:
The charts below show the difference in air temperature exiting the airbox when the air scoop is in place (red lines), and when the block off plate is installed (blue lines). The entries in the legend show the configuration, ABC for (C)losed and ABO for (O)pen, and the average outside air temperature reported by the GTI air temperature sensor during the drive.
Airbox air temperatures show minimal variation between the two test conditions.
Conclusion:
During around-town commuting the presence of the air scoop does not cause a change in air temperature when compared with the blocked opening case.
Next:
Additional air scoop testing will be performed to evaluate other conditions.
